Suzuki Vstrom, Semelay, Morvan National Park – European Tour Part 3

This is the cabin near Semelay where we stayed, Outside there is a lovely garden with fruit trees and a camping area with plenty of room to relax, it even had a hammock. There is a good fire pit as well as the fully equipped outdoor kitchen too so there is plenty of space.

In the cabin there are single and double bedrooms, with a shower, kitchen and living area. As you can see there is floor to ceiling glass to watch the sunsets too.

Everything you could need including parking for about ten bikes. Simple, but a perfect haven for bikers or any small groups wanting something out of the way.

We stayed at the cabin for 3 nights so I got 2 complete days of bright sunshine to explore the roads around the area.

The Morvan National Park

Most of the riding was in the area between Autun and Luzy in the south of the Morvan National Parc.

There was little traffic outside the towns and the roads were built into the landscape rather than cutting through it. Every fast bend led into another, winding around the gentle hills. they just egged you on to go faster and it was nice to not have any luggage on for a change. The constant switching from side to side through the endless S-bends did remind me of the old bit of Cadwell Park, through Hall Bends into the Old Hairpin.

The towns and villages were pretty ideallic and the roads were just sublime. The landscape was reminiscent of the English Shires, just cleaner, bigger, emptier and a lot hotter.

It was great just following my nose to see where it took us and we could enjoy the scenery as well as the fantastic roads. Overall we had 3 days of glorious hot sunny days and wonderful starry nights.

Fantastic Roads

This video is just a short compilation of what we got to enjoy. Most foreign visitors don’t seem to reach this area of France but believe me, as a biker if you get the chance take it. The roads are that good.

I don’t feel like there is a lot more to say here and the next video down into Neauveau Aquitaine is a long one to edit, so I am just going to leave you with some music and the roads to enjoy as much as you can in a video.

I did keep thinking the EXUP would be phenominal around these roads, but the Vstrom was definitely more than enough to enjoy. Because so many of the roads were single tracks there was a limit on safe speeds.

Hopefully the next installment will be up next week as we head further South in France.
